7-17-05 JUST ANOTHER DAY IN THE FABULOUS CITY

hey! its been quite a chic weekend so far. most of my class went to rome for the weekend (so jealous) but the few that stayed made the most of it. friday we desided to dress up and have a big night on the town. the resident director in our house, elie, is in the inner circle at most of the upper class bars and clubs around kensington & chelsea (the high class, old money, part of the city) so she took us out to a club that looked like you had to have on versace or armani to get in at all, but elie pulled it off, being her fabulous self haha. we had to live it up while we were there so the 5 of us ordered a £50 cocktail (which comes to a cool $90 at home) it was the biggest cocktail ive ever seen, but worth every pound. wait till u see pictures of this thing! its like heaven with a kick. we danced the night away there and had a blast. have i mentioned yet that british people have no rythme at all?? they dont care, they just let loose and limbs are flying. let me put it this way - they make me look a good dancer. we stumbled home at about 130 and realized that the grocery store by our house was having a harry potter party so we went in and bought it, still fairly drunk and def still dressed to impress haha but we beat the rush!

saturday i went to the tate modern for the day. it has amazing galleries of modernist painters and sculptures. lots of picasso, duchamp, dufy, matisse, and some monet. turned on my ipod and walked around there for 5 hours - im a changed girl! haha that night i went for a run and found myself on kensington palace gardens - 'the most presigious address in london'. its a street lined with absolutely huge and beautiful houses, i really cant even describe them. most of them sold for about 70 million pounds (double that for US dollars!) i have to thank robbie for telling me to find those houses (so bohner - if u see him let him know)

this morning we actually got up before noon and went to st pauls cathedral for mass. it was, safe to say, amazing. the architechture, sculptures, and mosaics on the walls and ceiling are one of a kind. oh the mass was pretty good too.

tonight is the big 'willy wonka' movie premiere in london. were heading down to leister square to see if we can catch a glimpse of johnny depp wish us luck!
